ASVAB
The ASVAB, or Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, is a standardized test used by the United States military to assess a person’s aptitude and potential for success in various military occupations and career fields. It is one of the key factors that the military uses to determine an individual’s eligibility and suitability for different roles within the armed forces and beyond.
The ASVAB consists of several subtests that evaluate different areas of knowledge and skills, including:
- General Science
- Arithmetic Reasoning
- Word Knowledge
- Paragraph Comprehension
- Mathematics Knowledge
- Electronics Information
- Auto and Shop Information
- Mechanical Comprehension
- Assembling Objects
Your ASVAB scores help determine which military jobs you are eligible for and which ones align with your abilities and interests. In addition to determining job eligibility, ASVAB scores also play a role in helping the military branch you’re interested in decide where to place you and whether you might qualify for certain incentives or bonuses.
ASVAB is not just for enlistment purposes, however. It can also be used as a career exploration tool to help individuals identify civilian occupations that align with their skills and interests.
